End up with completely random shit happening on screen (random buffs, attacks, spells, healing triggering all over the place) because of like 4-8 extra traits x 6 creatures. So having each of my six creatures with tons of free random perks (like 6-8 each I think is the max before it doesn't let you get any more?) plus the ramping Reaver stuff means that as long as 1-2 waspids survive the first 4-5 rounds then I become pretty unstoppable to most enemy compositions at this stage of the game (just got to Azure Dream). The other Reaver perks (and the inox and urh apocalypse traits) slowly kick on over time as well. My macro says anytime three or more waspids are dead then all of them should be attacking no matter the turn (triggering a res on the dead ones), but otherwise have the fire salamander and the ossein waspids defend forever. The spell gets copied because of reverberation so I get like 3-6 free traits a turn on every waspid. If its turn 2+, then death chaos rifts trigger at least twice, more as the battle progresses.īasically have six waspid guardians, defend the first 2 turns until free spells perk come online during realm battles unless its a boss battle in which I might start casting chaos rift immediately turn 1, but normally defend turn 1-2, then have 2-3 of the waspids with chaos rift cast it turn 3-4. When any of the other waspids die they cast their spell gem, so I get some free chaos rifts or fury swipes (the fury swipes cause one of the other living waspids to attack several times and usually immediately cause any dead waspids - including the one that had a death-triggered-fury swipes - to come back to life). Waspid Guardian (haven't done fusion yet). Spell gem: vampirism (not very useful currently either). Waspid Guardian w/ the Ossein that makes creatures resurrect with 100% extra HP and increases their max HP if they go over their previous max (I am feeling underwhelmed with this one cause I don't have much healing so getting to the new max HP level isn't consistent, and I have other benefits from death triggers). Spell gem: chaos rift (each of your creatures gains a random trait until end of battle). Key perks: Mental Clarity (spells free after turn 2), Reverberation (your creatures Attack and Cast an additional time for every 2 turns they've taken in battle).ġ: Waspid Guardian w/ Inox Apocalypse. My first playthrough on this game series and I am sure I'm doing suboptimal stuff but having fun just following whims. Gain tons of random additional traits and watch your # of living creatures fluctuating wildly between 2-6 constantly in hard battles but surviving tenaciously. It's fantastic because it's only ever as deep or involved as you want it to be.Slot machine style build. Similarly, through clever skill selection you can either have super involved tactical battles or relatively hands-free ones where everything detonates the second you show up (I did the latter because I love the chaos of it). If I wanted to, I could just as easily switch into another class with a different playstyle and recustomise everything to suit it. I picked Pyromancer and passives that let me negate enemies' fire resistance, so everything I invest in is within the frame of "how can I make things burn MORE!?". While this could be overwhelming, the game is made accessible by its easy to understand class system. You can customise everything - your class, your skills, your creatures, your style, your castle, your spells, your equipment - everything!!! It has endless variety, a hilarious story that hits harder than it has any right to and a really flexible approach to complexity.
